Why Decontamination Comes First

The real hazard in a perchloric system is usually inside the ductwork, not the hood. Over years of use, perchloric acid can form perchlorate deposits in ducts and stacks that may be shock- and friction-sensitive, so cutting, grinding, or impact during removal can set them off. That’s why decontamination has to come before any demolition or mechanical trade touches the system. RETRO handles that phase first, so the ductwork is safe to remove when your schedule calls for it.
